The night was silent. Not a cricket chirped and not an owl hooted as the sun slowly began to sink in the distance. Tonight would be a full moon, which was the first one for a little while. Few clouds graced the darkening sky as the abstract colors began to fade to black. The blanket of darkness enclosed the earth for a few hours, signaling the time for rest.
Yet one person remained restless, disobeying the lure of the night. A teenage girl who's charcoal coloured hair gleamed slightly with the light of the round, white gleam that the moon held so dear. A stolen light from the sun, reflected back to the earth in a more calming form. The moon had such strange powers. It could push and pull the tides, capture the light from the sun, and even send people into a world of dreams.
Akira slept under one of the oak trees in the forest beside the campus. She had drifted off earlier that day while she was taking a walk. Her mouth was barely open and as she exhaled you could see her breath in the air. Her eyes fluttered open, only to be greeted by darkness. She groaned as she picked herself up off the ground, blinking her eyes a few times as she tried to adjust to the darkness around her.
The cold air blew around the young girl, nipping at her bare skin. She searched for her jacket but was unable to find it in the dark. She shivered as she tried to remember which way she'd come from. It was much easier in the day but at Night...Not so easy. She mentally beat herself for being such a lazy ass and falling asleep in the forest and for bringing a coat that blended in with the night so well.
Her eyes, now finally adjusted to the surrouding darkness, darted over towards one end of the path. She turned her head as she thought she heard someone approaching. She froze on the spot. Now normally Akira wasn't affraid of the dark or anything but she was in the woods, at night alone. The one thing that was stuck in her mind was a group of ninja that were searching for her. She'd just come back from having a "lovely" talk with the Kage of her village. It all ended with her chopping off one of his arms, which led to her running back to the base. Boy was she going to get hell from Hidan when she got back.
She jumped up into one of the trees as she tried to pop her arm back into it's socket. "fucking thing wont go back in", she mumbled as she continued to move her arm around. Tears fell down her cheeks and onto the ground. As she popped it back into place she gave a weak cry. "damn that hurts", she hissed lightly.
